Tributes for Toby Tobin

“As a life long member of Kansas City’s gardening community, I had the pleasure of meeting many outstanding gardeners, authors, supporters, and suppliers.

Toby Tobin was a standout as one of those individuals. We looked forward to his weekly show and came away with new ideas, insights, and expert advice.

Toby shared it all with great style. He proudly emphasized new creative thinking and techniques and was passionate about introducing new garden products.

In addition, Toby respected the Kansas City garden history. As a guest on his show, he invited me to relate the history of the Kansas City Rose Society. This organization, soon to be one hundred years old, completed a fifteen year restoration of the Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden in Loose Park. Toby wanted his listeners to be aware of this effort and to celebrate by visiting the garden, its new fountain, and the three thousand roses.

Toby will be greatly missed and remembered with sincere appreciation for his broadcasting style and love of gardening.”
