who we are
Founded in 1996 by Michael and Elizabeth Cavanaugh, The Kansas City Gardener magazine has been offering information and ideas that readers trust for successful gardening. Firmly entrenched in the gardening community, it is recognized by many as this region’s first gardening publication of choice. We get closer to the gardener.
Each issue is filled with editorial authored by local experts and green industry professionals with firsthand gardening experience in the Midwest. Gardeners at every level count on that information, education and inspiration with every issue.
KCG magazine is an effective and affordable media option for green industry products and services. Historically, advertisers have been getting more than ad space. Advertisers have access to our readers, who trust our editorial, and by association, trust the advertising.
With an average of 28,000 issues monthly, distribution to 200 locations is targeted throughout greater Kansas City and surrounding areas – from independently-owned garden centers and nurseries, to hardware stores and community libraries. We print more than 300,000 issues each year, which equals well over a half million dedicated readers of our ‘local’ publication.
KCGMAG.COM is an extension of the monthly magazine. Users of the web site have access to archived issues, an up-to-date list of garden events, available resources, inspirational images, timely tips and news for immediate release, and much more.
